Before you go further, make sure you have already set up at least one folder for sharing (public or private). If not, see our Quick Start Guide.
Click the 'Email' button on the main toolbar. This will bring up a window that will list your groups and your friends. Select the groups and friends that should receive the link. The receiver of this email will receive a URL (http://...) link to a web page that shows the contents of the folder. If you use the email option on the 2nd toolbar below the main toolbar, an link to the currently selected file will be sent.
Click the 'Show Folder' button on the main toolbar (to see an HTML [web] view of the current folder). This will open a Browser window to a page displaying the contents of a shared folder. You can copy the URL (address) to the clipboard and paste it into an email body, chat, instant message, etc. See an example page.
Click the 'Show File' button on the second (smaller) toolbar (to see an HTML [web] view of the currently selected file). This will open a Browser window to a page displaying the contents of the shared file. You can copy the URL (address) to the clipboard and paste it into an email body, chat, instant message, etc. See an example page.
When one of your friends signs into their account, and accepts your inviation to join, they will see you in their friends list. To see a friends shared folders, select a friend in the list and click 'View now.' The files and folders displayed will be from the friends account, filtered by what they have allowed you to see. From here, you can download, copy, etc. See the Help page to learn about how to copy files and folders between accounts.
If you would like to create link directly to a file, select the file, click the 'Link' button (looks like a chain link) on the second (smaller) toolbar. This will place a direct link to that file on the clipboard. If you have publicly shared the folder containing the link, then anyone can view this link. If you have privately shared the folder, only the members of the groups you have shared the folder to, can see the link. They will be first prompted to log in (if they are not already logged into MyOtherDrive), and then the link will be displayed.
